Cecil Bacon Manor Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Cecil Bacon Manor on Broadway East, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building has this charming, historic character that feels authentically Seattle — you know, the kind of place that actually has stories to tell. It’s a three-star property, but honestly, it punches above its weight in terms of personality and location. The manor sits right in the heart of Capitol Hill, and I mean right in the thick of things, which is exactly where you want to be if you’re trying to experience the real Seattle vibe.

Location & Neighborhood

Capitol Hill is where Seattle gets interesting, and this place puts you smack in the middle of it all. You’re within walking distance of some of the city’s best coffee shops, vintage stores, and that eclectic mix of restaurants that makes this neighborhood so addictive. The couples who stay here absolutely love it — they’ve rated the location 9.1, and I totally get why. You can stroll to Pike Place Market if you’re feeling touristy, but you’re also surrounded by the kind of local spots that make you feel like you’re living here rather than just visiting. Plus, there’s something to be said for being on Broadway East — it’s got energy without being overwhelming.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had that perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort. You can tell they’ve put thought into maintaining the building’s character while making sure everything actually works well. The windows are generous, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with Seattle’s famously moody weather. What really impressed me was how quiet it stayed despite being right on Broadway — good windows and solid walls, I guess. The space felt thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together, which you don’t always get at this price point.

Practical Perks

Here’s something that’ll make your trip easier — they offer free parking, which is honestly a huge deal in Capitol Hill. Anyone who’s tried to find street parking in this neighborhood knows what I’m talking about. Recent guests have been rating the overall location experience at 9.2, and after staying here, that makes complete sense. The staff seems to genuinely know the area well, so they’re actually helpful when you ask for recommendations rather than just pointing you toward the obvious tourist spots.

Why Guests Love It

What sets Cecil Bacon Manor apart is how it manages to feel both connected to the neighborhood and like a peaceful retreat from it. You’re not staying in some sterile box — you’re staying in a place that feels like it belongs exactly where it is. The combination of that prime Capitol Hill location, the free parking (seriously, this is huge), and the building’s genuine character creates something that’s hard to find elsewhere. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because you realize you’ve found the perfect base for exploring Seattle the way it’s meant to be explored.

Exploring Seattle layers rooftop gardens, tide flat walks, and rainy-day museum hops.

We loved everything about this B&B. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. We felt right at home. The breakfast was different every morning and home made. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. The B&B is right in Capitol Hill and you are downtown in 15min. Definitely would stay here again. Thank you for everything!

The historical manor is very charming and the manager is very friendy. The room was not very large but cosy. We arrive early so we had the possibility to park in the yard.
Very good breakfast changing every day.
The area is full of very nice historical manors. It is very close from the historic Capitol Hill area with restaurants.
    Easy access to public transports.

Breakfast was very good and the host asks about any dietary restrictions when you check in. I really appreciated that since I’m vegan – and yes, my vegan breakfasts were all very delicious and healthy. They would also check to make sure you got enough to eat. There were comfortable places to eat either with the other guests or a little apart. As a solo traveler, it was actually really comforting for me to eat with the other guests at the main table each morning.
I stayed in the Clipper room, which was very clean and comfortable. The bed and tons of pillows especially I enjoyed, as well as the desk and chairs in my room. There was A/C, which I didn’t need, but at the same time was glad to have sometimes. I spent plenty of time reading and doing a little remote work (yes, they have solid WiFi) in the common areas of the house like the library and courtyard. All were clean, comfortable, and inviting, with plenty of pillows, tables, lamps, to really settle into a spot. Also everything was quite beautiful – the decor, furniture, and landscaping – overall I would call it cozy (like really cozy, I am not using that as a euphemism for cramped). Other than the shower, there was lots of space (more time om that below).
The neighborhood is very convenient for walking to local attractions or getting to a transit station. You can also park in the neighborhood, but there seems to be some restrictions on how long you can park in one spot, which made me a little nervous (I had no issues though).
The host was super friendly and helpful. They also have a dog who is friendly but very quiet and well behaved, so for those who are allergic to dogs, if you just say no, he’ll just trot off. Even when I was eating outside, I said no, and he left me alone.

What could be improved: I was perfectly happy and I would stay here again. There were a few things that weren’t absolutely perfect though, or I think some people might want to know, so here’s that:
The shower at least in my room was rather small, very large people might not be comfortable.
My room was a little noisy. I think sound would get in through where the window A/C unit was placed, so I could hear some traffic from (I guess) 10th Street. Nothing some soft ear plugs or a fan wouldn’t help with.
Everything is pretty scented here. The linens, and sometimes there were scented candles burning, the bathroom products, etc. Not a problem for most people, but those who are sensitive to fragrances might not be comfortable here.

  • Patt from United States – 21 August 2024 (8/10)

The breakfasts were amazing. David was an awesome host. The room was good in size. We loved everything about our stay.

  • Phil from United Kingdom – 21 July 2024 (8/10)

The house was full of character in a lovely quiet area. The breakfast’s were excellent and different each day we were there.
Our host, David, was friendly and helpful and we would certainly stay here again if we come back to Seattle.

What could be improved: It would have been nice to have had tea and coffee making facilities in the Bedroom, but were available downstairs.

  • Caroline from United Kingdom – 19 July 2024 (8/10)

The house and garden are beautiful and a haven of peace and quiet in a busy city. The bedroom and guest areas downstairs are even lovelier than the photos. The neighbourhood is full of similar houses and its short walk to the lively restaurants and bars of Capitol Hill and buses to downtown.

What could be improved: It would have been nice to have had access to tea and coffee facilities in the room and a small fridge to keep water and other drinks cold. Breakfast was fun around the communal table with a different plated dish each day but I’d have liked the choice of helping myself to fruit, yoghurt and maybe granola as well.
