Charming two-level retreat in Capitol Hill – Foxglove Inn Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Charming two-level retreat in Capitol Hill – Foxglove Inn, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling that makes Seattle so special. This three-star boutique property sits quietly on 11th Avenue East, and honestly, the neighborhood vibe hits you right away — tree-lined streets, historic homes, and that unmistakable Capitol Hill energy buzzing just beneath the surface. The inn itself feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel, which is exactly what you want when you’re exploring Seattle.

The Capitol Hill Experience

You know what’s great about this location? You’re actually in the heart of one of Seattle’s most vibrant neighborhoods without dealing with the tourist crowds. Capitol Hill is where locals go for everything — from late-night coffee shops to vintage record stores to some of the city’s best restaurant options. I mean, you can walk to Volunteer Park in about ten minutes, and Pike Place Market is just a quick ride away. The fact that couples rate this spot 8.9 for romantic getaways makes total sense when you’re strolling these tree-canopied streets at sunset.

Your Home Base

The two-level setup here is pretty clever — it gives you way more space than your typical hotel room, and there’s something satisfying about having actual stairs in your temporary home. Each space feels thoughtfully designed without being fussy about it, and the windows let in that soft Pacific Northwest light that somehow makes everything look better. What really sold me was the attention to small details — good reading lamps, places to actually unpack your stuff, and that sense that someone who travels a lot designed these spaces.

Practical Perks

Here’s something that’ll save you headaches — they have private parking on site, which is basically gold in Capitol Hill. Trust me, trying to find street parking in this neighborhood can turn into an unwanted adventure. The 9.2 location rating from recent guests isn’t just about the cool factor either; you’re genuinely well-positioned for exploring both the neighborhood scene and getting to other parts of Seattle. The light rail connections aren’t far, and you can walk to most of Capitol Hill’s main attractions.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.7 rating tells the real story — this place just works for people who want something more personal than a chain hotel but with reliable comfort. It’s the kind of spot where you actually look forward to coming back after a day of exploring, maybe grabbing some local takeout and settling in upstairs. The inn manages to capture that quintessential Seattle feeling of being laid-back but culturally rich, and honestly, isn’t that exactly what you want when you’re visiting the Emerald City? Plus, waking up in Capitol Hill means your first coffee of the day is probably going to be exceptional — the neighborhood takes its caffeine seriously.

Reviews of Charming two-level retreat in Capitol Hill – Foxglove Inn

  • Kayla from United States – 29 April 2025 (10/10)

Super cute spot, excellent location, host was very responsive and helpful.

What could be improved: I wish there was more bathroom counter space (but it was true to the photos and appropriate for the size of the space).

  • Christine from United States – 14 April 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location, very walkable, unit was clean, cute and comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed. Separate floor temperature controls for heat was appreciated. Stairs are steep to bedroom but not a problem for us. Off street parking was excellent.

There is no ‘staff’ on duty but they replied to my email quickly when I had a question. Nice, quiet neighborhood.

  • Merry from United States – 25 February 2025 (10/10)

Great little oasis in the middle of Capitol Hill! The place was invitingly warm when we got there and the rental was surprisingly private. It was a couple blocks from an event we went to, which was perfect for just relaxing and enjoying our night!

What could be improved: I can’t think of anything.

  • Randle from United States – 28 October 2024 (10/10)

Foxglove is a quaint and quiet side street off bustling neighborhood with its secret garden home behind the large lovely communal living house. As advertised , This makes for perfect retreat. The Cozy small sitting area and kitchen were perfect to relax in. The steps to the loft bedroom was a perfect antidote to hectic days event. I only wish I had a week to tuck in and restore in this cabin.

Fantastic location in the heart of Capitol Hill, we stayed in the standalone 2-level bungalow, which was very private and had most everything we needed for an overnight in Seattle. Plates / bowls and cutlery, and some pots provided with a hot plate. AC provided in the bedroom upstairs. Great to have parking too!

What could be improved: The place is nestled in the backyard with beautiful tall trees, which also means there are cobwebs around. Some pieces of furniture were quite worn. AC, while I imagine is fantastic for those increasingly hot days, unfortunately doesn’t have a great place to be installed — the ducting has to cross over a corner of the bed and is taped to the only operable window in the unit. I couldn’t get the hot plate to work, and unfortunately wasn’t successful reaching the host (probably best to call them directly). Host was friendly when I reached them afterwards about addressing the minor repair / maintenance items I mentioned above for future guests!
