citizenM Seattle Pioneer Square Overview
First Impressions
Walking into citizenM Seattle Pioneer Square, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical corporate hotel. The lobby feels more like a trendy co-working space mixed with a boutique art gallery — there’s this massive communal table where people are actually hanging out with laptops and coffee, and the design is all sleek lines with pops of color that somehow don’t feel forced. It’s a four-star property, but honestly, the vibe is more “cool friend’s really well-designed apartment” than stuffy hotel.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s great about Pioneer Square? It’s got this perfect balance of historic charm and urban energy that most Seattle neighborhoods struggle to pull off. The hotel sits right in the thick of it all — you’re literally steps from the Underground Tour (which, okay, is touristy but actually pretty fascinating), and Pike Place Market is just a pleasant 10-minute walk through some of the city’s most interesting streets. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.3, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can walk to the waterfront, catch a Mariners game, or duck into one of those hidden speakeasies that Pioneer Square does so well.
The Room Experience
The room design is where citizenM really shows off — everything is controlled through this tablet system that initially seems gimmicky but actually works brilliantly once you figure it out. The bed is positioned perfectly for the floor-to-ceiling windows, so you wake up with these great city views, and the shower (which is basically in the room itself behind frosted glass) feels surprisingly private despite the open concept. Storage is cleverly hidden everywhere, which you’ll appreciate since Seattle weather means you’re probably traveling with layers.
Food & Social Spaces
The buffet breakfast is solid — not groundbreaking, but they do this thing with local coffee that’s actually worth getting up for, and there’s usually some Pacific Northwest touches that feel authentic rather than forced. What I really love, though, is how the common areas work throughout the day. The ground floor transforms from morning coffee spot to afternoon work space to evening social hub, and there’s always this low-key energy that makes you want to stick around rather than hide in your room.
Why Guests Love It
This place gets Seattle right in a way that a lot of hotels miss — it’s modern and efficient without being cold, and it’s social without being overwhelming. The location score of 9.2 isn’t just about proximity to attractions; it’s about being in a neighborhood that actually feels like part of the city rather than some tourist bubble. Plus, the staff genuinely seems to enjoy working here, which always makes a difference when you need recommendations or just want to chat about what’s happening in the area. It’s the kind of place where you might actually extend your stay just because you’re comfortable.
Hotels near me in Seattle deliver quick Link rides to Capitol Hill brunches, Ballard breweries, and Discovery Park trails.

Reviews of citizenM Seattle Pioneer Square

It was a great little quirky modern stay and the facilities were cool, lots of tech.
What could be improved: The rooms were a bit small for me, by the time you put suitcases somewhere, it halved the room size. I don’t like beds that you need to climb over your partner to get out.Melissa from United States – 9 May 2025 (9/10)
Loved how clean, easy, and all the right modern amenities. The staff were particularly helpful with some important work packages that I had over nighted. I will definitely come back

Location is really great
What could be improved: There is no space between the bed and the wall.Nicole from United States – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
We loved staying here. The location was perfect, right downtown and next to the ferry. The room was modern, and, though. small, had a perfect, efficient layout. The bed was super comfortable. We live on Bainbridge Island, so this hotel was perfectly located to spend the night in Seattle before an early flight. We had a delicious latte in the awesome lobby early in the morning before leaving. This is such a fabulous hotel, especially if you you want a clean, modern vibe right in the heart of downtown

The location.
Excellent staff
Good breakfast selection
What could be improved: Room size is on the small size if you are travelling with full size suitcases. For older clients, the configuration of the bed is problematic – one person needs to crawl over the other to get out of bed.
Some of the electronics – the lighting system seemed to be all or nothing, with the exception of the night lights by the bed. We would leave the lighting system off and come back to find it all on. The blinds seemed to close during the day on their own.
The tea bags utilized are non compostable. Not environmentally conscious
Being cashless – you can’t pay for a ‘cuppa’ with cash, you HAVE to use a card. Isn’t friendly to non-Americans older travellers who wish to use cash and not rack up foreign transaction fees.Laurie from Australia – 1 May 2025 (8/10)
Breakfast was great. Location very good. I looked out over Puget Sound and the ferry terminal. Only a block or so from the underground tours. Pioneer Square is an interesting area.

The bed was really comfy and great, the curtains were great as well. I liked the cute writing on everything and liked being told that tap water was safe to use.
What could be improved: I didn’t like that you couldn’t watch live TV and had to pick based on channels and options given on tablet.
