Cozy Crown Hill Carkeek Cottage w/3 Beds, Full Kitchen & Backyard in North Seattle Overview
First Impressions
The Cozy Crown Hill Carkeek Cottage w/3 Beds, Full Kitchen & Backyard in North Seattle caught me off guard in the best way possible. I mean, you don’t expect to find this kind of homey charm tucked away in Crown Hill — it’s like discovering a secret hideaway that somehow feels both urban and completely removed from city life. The upper-level location gives you this nice sense of privacy, and honestly, the moment you walk in, it feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical rental.
Location & Neighborhood
Crown Hill is one of those Seattle neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often miss, which actually works in your favor. You’re close enough to Ballard’s breweries and restaurant (maybe a 10-minute drive), but far enough away that you won’t deal with weekend crowds stumbling past your window. What really sold me on the location is how walkable it is — there’s something refreshing about being able to stroll to local coffee shops without feeling like you’re in the thick of tourist central. Plus, couples seem to really get this vibe; I can see why it rates so highly for romantic getaways.
The Space
This four-star cottage nails the balance between comfort and character. The full kitchen is actually functional — not one of those tiny setups where you can barely make toast. I spent a good chunk of my morning there making proper breakfast, and there’s enough counter space that you don’t feel cramped. The three bedrooms give you options, whether you’re traveling with friends or just want to spread out. Each room has its own personality, but they all share this cozy, lived-in feeling that makes you want to curl up with a book.
Outdoor Space & Amenities
The backyard is where this place really shines, honestly. It’s not huge, but it’s private and well-maintained — perfect for morning coffee or evening wine. You know what I loved? Just sitting out there in the evening, hearing the neighborhood settle down for the night. There’s something about having your own outdoor space in Seattle that feels special. The whole setup makes you feel like you’re actually living in the city rather than just visiting it.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests keep mentioning the location, and I get it — this spot hits that sweet spot of being residential but not remote. You’re getting genuine Seattle neighborhood life without sacrificing access to the city’s highlights. The cottage itself has this authentic, unpretentious vibe that’s getting harder to find in vacation rentals these days. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to hang out rather than just crash between sightseeing adventures. For couples especially, there’s something really appealing about having a proper home base where you can cook dinner together and just… well, be normal people for a few days.
Hotels near me in Seattle deliver quick Link rides to Capitol Hill brunches, Ballard breweries, and Discovery Park trails.

Our family recently stayed at this home in Crown Hill, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing overall. While the neighborhood seemed safe and the backyard was well maintained, several issues soured our stay.
What could be improved: Firstly after notifying the host that two additional children (ages 5 and 8) would be joining us for the seven nights we booked and one other adult for 3 of the 7 nights. The host demanded an additional charge of $850 for our stay, which seemed excessive considering we had already paid $1475 upfront. We reiterated to the host that our family would primarily be using the property for sleeping and showering, as we have our own place in Seattle where we would spend the majority of our time before and after daily activities. Despite this the host seemed fixed on the extra charge, finally after negotiating the host brought the price down to $500, but even then, it felt steep given the accommodations. Either way, I took responsibility for me just focusing on the description of “3 beds” and assuming that would translate to accommodating up to 5 guest and paid the host $500 cash.
Upon arrival, it was immediately apparent that the bedrooms were smaller than expected, especially the second bedroom with its cramped bunk beds. Despite the listing stating 3 beds, the bunk bed on top is not suitable for any adult or child, as it is so close to the ceiling (the host even mentioned to make sure my niece and nephews are careful when getting on and off of it).
Cleanliness was another major issue. The bathroom clearly hadn't been thoroughly cleaned, with leftover hair in the bathtub and poorly mopped tiles. The living room couch had noticeable stains, and we even encountered spiders in the kitchen, indicating low cleaning standards which detracted from our comfort.
Moreover, the air conditioning was inadequate, consisting only of a small unit in the living room window. This resulted in uncomfortably warm conditions, making it difficult to rest properly especially at night.
Additionally, the electrical outlets in the rooms stopped working on the first day, rendering the TV in the primary bedroom unusable for the entire duration of our stay.Laurie from United States – 29 May 2024 (8/10)

Location was excellent! Apartment was spacious, clean and a beautiful stay. It was equipped with kitchen essentials that allowed us to prepare meals…great value! 2 big screen TVs, a bonus!
What could be improved: Loved everything!Johannes from Germany – 17 September 2023 (9/10)
Schön gelegen, geräumiges Appartment, liebevoll und durchdacht ausgestattet, besonders die Küche.
What could be improved: Die Schlüsselübergabe war ziemlich kompliziert, aber vermutlich war dies einigen Zufällen an jenem Tag geschuldet.
