Hotel Max Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel Max on Stewart Street, you immediately know this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The lobby has this cool, artsy vibe that feels distinctly Seattle — think bold colors and local artwork that actually means something. It’s a three-star property, but honestly, it punches above its weight in terms of character and style. The design philosophy emphasizes authenticity and regional character, making guests feel connected to the city’s creative community from the moment they arrive.
Perfect Belltown Location
You know what I love about this spot? You’re right in the heart of Belltown, which means Pike Place Market is just a few blocks away, and you can walk to the waterfront without breaking a sweat. Seattle’s best coffee shops are practically on your doorstep — and trust me, that matters when you’re exploring this caffeine-obsessed city. The location score of 9.1 isn’t just a number; couples especially seem to get it, rating the area 8.9 for romantic getaways. Being positioned in this vibrant neighborhood means you’re surrounded by galleries, boutiques, and some of the Pacific Northwest’s most innovative dining establishments.
The Room Experience
Here’s where Hotel Max really surprised me — the beds are genuinely fantastic. I mean, after walking around Seattle’s hills all day, you want to sink into something comfortable, and these beds deliver. The room design keeps that artistic theme going without being overwhelming, and there’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in. The windows give you decent city views, though don’t expect the Space Needle from every angle. Each room is thoughtfully appointed with modern amenities while maintaining the hotel’s distinctive aesthetic throughout.
Practical Perks
One thing that’ll save you some headache — they have private parking right at the hotel. Anyone who’s tried to find street parking in Belltown will appreciate this more than you might think. It’s not free (this is Seattle, after all), but having a guaranteed spot is worth the peace of mind. The staff actually knows the neighborhood well too, so they can point you toward the good stuff that tourists usually miss. Additional conveniences include reliable Wi-Fi throughout the property and a helpful concierge service.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it captures Seattle’s creative spirit without trying too hard. You’re not paying five-star prices, but you’re getting something with real personality in one of the city’s most walkable neighborhoods. The combination of comfort, location, and that distinctly Pacific Northwest artistic flair makes it feel like you’re staying somewhere that actually belongs in Seattle — not just another hotel that could be anywhere. Visitors consistently praise the authentic local experience and the genuine warmth of the hospitality team. The property continues to attract discerning travelers who appreciate boutique accommodations that reflect the unique character of their destination.
Hotels near me in Seattle deliver quick Link rides to Capitol Hill brunches, Ballard breweries, and Discovery Park trails.

It was easy to book last minute and wasn’t far from the places I was planning to go to.
What could be improved: I didn’t like the parking situation. It was confusing and I didn’t know if I could park in the alleyway right beside the building or if I needed to find a parking garage.Patrycja from Switzerland – 16 April 2025 (8/10)
Very comfortable bed, fast wifi, loved the panache and style of the hotel. Also, given the Seattle weather in March/April, the umbrellas for use by guests and the fireplace!!! I appreciate that they are avoiding incessant towel changing etc from an environmental point of view.
What could be improved: One tiny ask – could you repair the broken bathroom tile under the sink in room 315? Given the high humidity, it’s acting as a mould invitation. Other than that it was all good!Angelika from Canada – 6 April 2025 (7/10)
Decor was cool, beds and pillows very comfy
What could be improved: I forgot an item in the room after I checked out, called back the same day and no one bothered to get back to me. They had me fill out a form that wasted my time and they did not return my item. Even though I called the SAME day, it would have been easy to retrieve so all I can wonder now is if someone stole my belongings.
I put in extra effort by waiting downstairs to ensure the front desk woman was safe when there was a domestic situation going on near midnight, I also left cash tip in the room for the maid. But no one from the hotel could bother to just put my item in an envelope and mail it back to me.Eileen from United States – 2 March 2025 (9/10)
Great location and value for downtown Seattle. Not a luxury hotel, but clean and comfortable with artsy decor. Easy walk to Pike Place Market and lots of shopping. It is very close to Westlake Center where you can catch the Monorail to Seattle Center, or Lightrail to airport and other destinations.
What could be improved: The rooms are small and have no coffee makers (coffee is available in morning in the lobby, or there is a Starbucks across the street).
There was some street noise, but I slept with the fan on low and slept well.Lynn from United States – 24 February 2025 (9/10)

I liked the location and convenience of the area. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I decided to extend my stay when I needed another day, and it was pretty easy through the app. The hotel toiletries were also quite nice, similar to Aesop. I didn’t have a problem with the noise, but I was deaf in one ear during my trip, so that may not be true if I visit again (ear plugs were provided). I appreciated the steamer as opposed to the iron as well for convenience. Overall, I think I got a great deal on booking.com and am happy I booked a solo room vs trying to cut costs with a hostel.
What could be improved: I didn’t truly dislike this, but do think I need to mention that their elevators are very small. It’s an older hotel that has been renovated with a theme (I believe) so some parts just have a worn down feel (although everything is clean).
Also not a negative for most but for any allergy sufferers- the down pillows weren’t great. Comfortable to sleep on but I woke up extra crusty. I would also say even with a larger room, storage felt very cramped.
