Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle by IHG, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel. The lobby has this theatrical, almost whimsical energy that feels refreshingly different from the corporate sterility you’d expect in downtown Seattle. I mean, the design team clearly had some fun here — there’s bold artwork, rich fabrics, and this sort of boutique sophistication that makes the space feel more like an upscale residence than a chain property. It’s a four-star hotel that actually feels like it’s trying to be something special, which honestly surprised me given its location right in the business district.
Location & Getting Around
The location on Fourth Avenue is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things. You’re literally steps from Pike Place Market — I’m talking a five-minute walk where you can grab coffee and watch the fish throwing spectacle. The waterfront is right there too, and you can easily walk to Pioneer Square or catch the light rail to the airport without dealing with Seattle’s notorious traffic. What I really appreciated was the private parking on-site, because finding a spot downtown can be absolutely brutal, especially during convention season.
The Room Experience
My room had this eclectic, almost artistic vibe that somehow worked really well. The decor walks this interesting line between sophisticated and playful — think rich jewel tones mixed with contemporary furnishings that don’t take themselves too seriously. The windows are generous, so you get decent natural light even though you’re surrounded by other buildings. What struck me most was the attention to detail in the amenities; they’ve clearly thought about what business travelers actually need, but without making the space feel cold or corporate.
Dining & Daily Rhythms
The breakfast situation is solid — they do both American classics and vegetarian options, which covers most bases. I actually found myself eating there more than I expected because the restaurant has this comfortable, neighborhood feel that makes it easy to linger over coffee. The staff seems to know their regulars, and there’s something nice about starting your day somewhere that feels a bit more personal than your typical hotel dining room. You know what I mean — it’s the kind of place where you might actually want to have a business meeting or catch up with friends.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, this hotel works because it manages to be both professional and personable. Couples seem to particularly love it here — and I can see why, since there’s something romantic about the theatrical design and the walkable neighborhood. The location score of 9.1 isn’t just marketing fluff; you really can explore Seattle on foot from here, which is rare for a downtown hotel. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than just booking a bed for the night. The Kimpton brand’s pet-friendly policy and evening wine hour add those little touches that make it feel more like hospitality than just accommodation.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Seattle around Fremont for street murals, open mic nights, and lakeside patios.

Location was great
What could be improved: It was not disclosed that the lobby was completely under renovations. That kind of ruined the charm of everything and we were not given the opportunity to get a discount due to that because we booked through booking.comDianne from United States – 1 April 2025 (9/10)
Upgraded room, quiet and clean room, responsive staff, complementary tickets to the art museum and provided a loaner cord charger for phone. Great location.

Older hotel going through renovation with new owners. Rooms are very clean and quiet. Two blocks from the Link light rail and restaurants.
What could be improved: As an early riser, I would have preferred to have the restaurant open at 6:30, not 7.Marcia from United States – 26 November 2024 (9/10)
