When I first pulled up to Modern Seattle Oasis, I’ll be honest — the name had me a bit skeptical. But you know what? Sometimes a place actually lives up to its promise. This three-star spot sits quietly on 42nd Avenue South, and there’s something immediately calming about the whole setup. The free parking right on-site was my first pleasant surprise — anyone who’s tried to find a decent parking spot in Seattle knows that’s basically gold.

What really struck me about this area is how it feels like actual Seattle, not the touristy version. You’re in a residential neighborhood that’s got character — tree-lined streets, local coffee shops within walking distance, and that authentic Pacific Northwest vibe. I mean, couples are rating the location 9.5 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. It’s close enough to downtown that you can easily get there, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with all the chaos and noise.

The Room Experience

The room itself surprised me in the best way. Everything feels thoughtfully designed without being pretentious about it. The modern touches actually work — clean lines, good lighting, and a bed that’s honestly more comfortable than I expected from a three-star place. The windows let in plenty of natural light, which is crucial during Seattle’s cloudier months. Small details matter here too, like having enough outlets near the bed and a workspace that’s actually functional if you need to get some work done.

What Sets It Apart

Here’s the thing that really impressed me — the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work. It’s not over-the-top service, just people who know their neighborhood and want to help you enjoy it. They’ll point you toward the good local spots (not just the obvious tourist traps) and actually remember your name after the first day. The whole place has this relaxed efficiency that makes everything feel easier, from check-in to getting recommendations for dinner.

That 8.4 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — this isn’t a flashy downtown hotel with a fancy lobby.   Location was great for our needs. Nice to have a dedicated parking spot, easy access off main highways. Heaters were supplied and worked well.
  
  What could be improved: There is no where to sit. You are limited to a high stool or the bed. There is a lovely outdoor area but we visited in winter/spring and had solid rain.
  No extra TP, lack of hooks for hanging wet raincoats (just add two above the shoe area).

  It was very clean, nicely decorated apartament. Location was very convenient to either arrive from airport or head downtown, stadium etc.
  Patio equiped with barbecue grill may use as separate space if weather is fine. Safeway grocery store is also nearby.
  
  What could be improved: It was little bit tight, low ceiling so tall people might complain. We were missing tea bags (+kettle) and coffee pods amount was insufficuent (2x).

  We were personally greeted as we exited our Uber and escorted to the unit's private entrance. We were happy to see the off-street parking space since we rented a car the following day. There's a lovely outdoor area for sitting and/or grilling including a gas fire pit.
  The compact unit is tastefully furnished and decorated. We especially appreciated the soft carpeting in the bedroom. Alexa controls the bedroom lights and can provide music. The hosts supplied a lot of informational brochures and maps which we found helpful. The bathroom includes useful amenities like earbuds and bandaids.
  They responded very promptly to our messages. We were very grateful for gracious access to the laundry facilities (upstairs in their home).
  There's a Safeway just an easy 10 minute walk away.
  We keep kosher and observe Shabbat. We chose this location because of its proximity to the Orthodox Jewish community. It's a quick 5 minute drive there.
  
  What could be improved: The hosts wrote that tea (among other provisions) is provided. When we arrived there was one tea bag left in the box. I asked for more and received two. We were there for 5 nights.
  The unit's temperature is controlled by the hosts. They prefer a much colder air-conditioning setting than we do. Fortunately, two effective and quiet heaters are provided.
  Be prepared to separate between trash and recycling.

  Very modern very clean and very short walk to the light rail. Kitchen very nice and hosts had almost anything needed for your stay. They also had brouchures maps and guide books for the area…extra helpful! The outside courtyard was awesome with bbq grill firepit and umbrellas. Parking is offstreet. Also they provide multiple tv streaming services.. i would equate this place with a 5 star hotel suite but with a kitchen and great patio.
  
  What could be improved: No separate living area to relax or watch tv..place too small for that so either sit at the kitchen dinete or outside.

  Very quiet, new and clean. Uncluttered, modern decor. Close to light rail. Walking/short drive to many very good cafes. Thereʻs a great patio with bbq that we didnʻt take advantage of.

  close proximity to many restaurants, grocery, and good take out. parking off street. clean! easy to find off I-5 the outside seating was lovely, unfortunately weather did not cooperate for much use. full kitchen; beautiful shower!
