Modern Sustainable Design in Ballard – 92 Wlkscore Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Modern Sustainable Design in Ballard – 92 Wlkscore, you immediately get the sense that this four-star property takes its environmental mission seriously without sacrificing style. The building itself feels refreshingly contemporary against Ballard’s mix of old maritime charm and new development. What struck me right away was how thoughtfully designed everything appeared — from the solar panels integrated seamlessly into the roofline to the native plant landscaping that actually thrives in Seattle’s climate. It’s clear someone put real effort into making sustainability look effortless here.

The Ballard Advantage

Honestly, the location couldn’t be better for exploring one of Seattle’s most dynamic neighborhoods. You’re within walking distance of the Ballard Locks (where you can watch salmon runs if you time it right), and the Sunday farmers market is just a few blocks away. The walkability score of 92 isn’t just marketing speak — I mean, you can genuinely leave your car in their free parking and explore most of what makes Ballard special on foot. Plus, you’re close enough to downtown Seattle but far enough away to avoid the tourist crowds that swarm Pike Place Market.

Thoughtful Design Details

The rooms showcase that modern sustainable approach without feeling like you’re staying in a science experiment. Natural materials dominate — reclaimed wood headboards, bamboo flooring, and these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that flood everything with Pacific Northwest light. What I appreciated most was how the eco-friendly features actually enhanced comfort rather than compromising it. The air quality feels noticeably cleaner thanks to their advanced filtration system, and the temperature control is remarkably precise. You know what really impressed me? Even the toiletries are locally sourced and refillable, which feels authentic rather than performative.

Neighborhood Immersion

Being in Ballard means you’re experiencing Seattle like a local rather than a tourist. The craft brewery scene here is incredible — Stoup Brewing and Reuben’s Brews are both walkable, and there’s something satisfying about returning to your upscale accommodations after sampling the neighborhood’s famous IPAs. The industrial maritime history is everywhere, from the working shipyards you can see from upper floors to the Nordic Heritage Museum that tells the area’s Scandinavian immigrant story. It’s this blend of working waterfront and creative energy that makes staying here feel more authentic than the typical downtown hotel experience.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.2 location rating makes perfect sense once you’ve spent time here — couples particularly seem drawn to the romantic combination of waterfront views and intimate neighborhood feel. Free parking is honestly a game-changer in Seattle, where downtown hotels charge $40+ per night for the privilege. But what keeps people talking about this place is how the sustainable design philosophy creates a genuinely more comfortable stay. The soundproofing is exceptional (important when you’re near active shipping channels), and the air feels fresher than typical city hotels. It’s one of those rare places where doing good and feeling good actually align perfectly.

  • Van from United States – 25 March 2025 (8/10)

  • Na from Canada – 20 March 2025 (8/10)

Spacious for small family. Pet friendly.

What could be improved: Convenient location. Safe, free street parking.

  • Jerald from United States – 16 August 2024 (8/10)

  • Verne from United States – 5 August 2024 (7/10)

The facility was well kept and clean. The host, Vince, was great and accessible. The unit met our needs.

What could be improved: Parking is an issue, as it is in most of Seattle. The exterior common areas of the condo are not well kept. That is no reflection on the owner. The challenge for us was that the unit is on three different floors. – 1st = bedrm, laundry and bathrm; 2nd = living and kitchen; 3rd bedroom and bathrm. Lot of stair climbing. Left luggage on first floor and slept on third. Not aza problem, just a challenge.

  • Jody from United States – 14 December 2023 (8/10)

  • Barone from United States – 18 September 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: Property was advertised as a three bedroom, two bath.
This is deceiving as the property is actually an excellent two bedroom, two bath with an unconventional sofa bed in the living room.

  • Anonymous from United States – 8 September 2023 (8/10)

Close to cruise terminal, dining and grocery shopping. Excellent clear instructions & guidelines provided in binder.

What could be improved: No complaints

  • Kathy from United States – 5 September 2023 (8/10)

  • Gloria from United States – 3 August 2023 (8/10)

The apartment was very clean and in a good location. The staff was prompt to answer.

What could be improved: The living room seating was uncomfortable and the bistro stools were dangerously unstable.
