Residence Inn by Marriott Seattle Downtown Convention Center Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Residence Inn by Marriott Seattle Downtown Convention Center, you immediately get that “extended stay done right” feeling. It’s not trying to be fancy — this is a three-star property after all — but everything feels clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The lobby has this welcoming, residential vibe that makes sense once you realize most guests are here for longer stays, whether for business or relocating to the area.
Location & Neighborhood
The Belltown location is honestly one of the best things about this place. You’re right in the heart of Seattle without the tourist chaos of Pike Place Market, though you can easily walk there in about 10 minutes. Terry Avenue puts you close enough to the Convention Center that you won’t need rideshares for meetings, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with constant conference crowds. I mean, couples rate this spot highly for good reason — there are great date-night restaurants within a few blocks, and you can stroll to the waterfront when the weather cooperates.
The Apartment-Style Experience
What sets this place apart is that every room is actually more like a studio apartment. You get a full kitchen with a real refrigerator, stovetop, and dishwasher — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation. This is a game-changer if you’re staying more than a couple nights or just want to grab groceries instead of eating out every meal. The living area has a pullout sofa that’s surprisingly comfortable, and there’s a proper work desk if you need to get things done.
Daily Perks & Amenities
The complimentary breakfast is better than you’d expect — they’ve got hot items, not just pastries and cereal. There’s also this evening social hour a few nights a week where they serve light appetizers and drinks, which is perfect for meeting other travelers or just unwinding after a long day. The fitness center is small but has the essentials, and honestly, with all the walking you’ll do exploring Seattle, you might not need much more. Parking is available but it’ll cost you extra — though that’s pretty standard for downtown Seattle.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really works here? It strikes that sweet spot between hotel convenience and apartment comfort. The staff genuinely seems to care about making longer stays feel less transient, and the restaurant recommendations they give are spot-on local favorites, not just tourist traps. Recent guests consistently mention feeling like they have a real home base in the city, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to experience Seattle like a local rather than just checking boxes on a sightseeing list. The 8.5 rating makes sense — it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Seattle before winter light festivals glow through Pioneer Square.

Rooms were clean , Free breakfast was good, and close to pikes market if your down for a walk.
What could be improved: The tv wouldn’t work in our room and beds were little hard but other than that was a nice stay .Johannes from Canada – 6 May 2025 (9/10)

The gal that checked me in (I didn’t catch her name) and the gal, Roberta who checked me out were both fantastic! The gal who checked me in made me feel very important and seen. The breakfast was wonderful too! My husband is very picky about food, breakfast especially. He was impressed. Thank you!
What could be improved: The furnace was a little noisy but I will just bring a sound machine next time.Thairy from United States – 14 March 2025 (9/10)
Location, free breakfast, and staff was friendly.
What could be improved: The entrance is a little confusing and short staff when checking in.Erin from Canada – 22 February 2025 (9/10)
Close and easy access to the convention centre. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean and the small “kitchen” included useful dishes and utensils. Fitness area was convenient and open 24 hours.
What could be improved: Even though there are many excellent features, the room is a small studio layout – the two beds, couch, table and cooking area are all in the same room so privacy is lacking if sharing the space. This isn’t clear from the pictures, so I mention it for others to be aware. The pullout couch is very old and uncomfortable for sleeping.Lingling from United States – 19 January 2025 (9/10)
