The Alexis Royal Sonesta Hotel Seattle Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Alexis Royal Sonesta Hotel Seattle, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical downtown hotel. The lobby feels more like an intimate art gallery — there’s this sophisticated energy that’s distinctly Pacific Northwest without being overly themed. I mean, you’re right in the heart of Seattle‘s business district, but somehow the space manages to feel both urban and welcoming. The staff actually remembers your name after the first interaction, which honestly surprised me given this is a five-star property where you’d expect things to be more formal.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about the First Avenue location — you’re literally steps from Pike Place Market, but far enough away that you don’t deal with the tourist chaos outside your window. The waterfront is a quick five-minute walk, and Pioneer Square’s galleries and cafes are right there when you want to explore. What really sold me though was how easy it was to grab an Uber or just walk to most places you’d actually want to visit. The parking situation is handled on-site too, which honestly saves you from the nightmare of finding a spot downtown.
The Room Experience
The room itself feels like someone’s really well-designed apartment rather than a hotel space. There’s genuine attention to detail here — custom artwork, quality linens that actually feel luxurious, and windows that frame the city views perfectly. You know what really impressed me? The beds live up to their reputation for comfort. I’m usually a light sleeper in hotels, but I slept through the night every time. The bathrooms are spacious with those deep soaking tubs that you’ll actually want to use after a day of walking around the city.
Dining and Amenities
The on-site restaurant serves Pacific Northwest cuisine that doesn’t feel forced or touristy — it’s the kind of place locals would actually choose for dinner. The breakfast service is solid, though I found myself venturing out to nearby cafes just because there are so many good options within walking distance. The fitness center is well-equipped but compact, and there’s a business center that’s actually useful if you need to print boarding passes or handle work stuff. The concierge team knows their stuff too — they pointed me toward some lesser-known spots that ended up being highlights of my trip.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel works because it strikes that perfect balance between luxury and livability. You’re getting five-star service and amenities, but it doesn’t feel stuffy or intimidating. Couples especially seem to appreciate the intimate atmosphere — I can see why they rated the location so highly for romantic getaways. The combination of being centrally located but still peaceful, plus having genuinely comfortable accommodations, makes it the kind of place you’d want to return to. It’s expensive, sure, but you’re paying for an experience that feels authentically Seattle rather than just another luxury hotel that could be anywhere.
The luxury concierge service in Seattle secures yacht charters to the San Juans, exclusive studio sessions, and sunrise hikes with gourmet picnics.

The rustic coziness.
What could be improved: Lack of parking.Supavun from Thailand – 25 April 2025 (8/10)
Comfortable bed. Good room size. We stayed for 5 nights. On the 4th night, leaks from bathroom ceiling. They moved us to another room which is very courteous as it was larger. Thank you.
What could be improved: Our room was on the fifth floor. 10 pm at night onwards, can hear people slam doors many times. also, there were noises in the ceiling and from air dent.Pamela from Canada – 21 April 2025 (9/10)
Friendly staff
Great gyms
Clean, large rooms
What could be improved: Issues which involved our shower leaking into room below us – but it was well addressed by staffJoann from United States – 14 April 2025 (9/10)
Great staff, welcoming, friendly and helpful! Room was beautiful and larger than expected
Mason from United States – 30 March 2025 (8/10)
The location was great. Only a few blocks from Pike’s Market and the piers. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Guest services were friendly.
What could be improved: The resort fee was ridiculous. This hotel wasn’t a resort and there weren’t many resort services. Although there was a “mini bar”/refrigerator in the room the beverages and snacks were outrageously priced. There was a 3 year old craft brew (Christmas seasonal) left as our beer selection. Just reduce or remove the resort fee.
The bar/cafe left us wanting more. They closed at 10pm and on Friday when they stayed open until 11pm, they wouldn’t serve cocktails after 9:30. During breakfast, you could only have hard boiled or scrambled eggs. The coffee was lukewarm; terrible for a city renowned for its coffee scene.
There’s a perfume store as you enter the hotel. If you’re sensitive to odors, this is a big let down. And, it wafts into the cafe/bar across the corridor.
The valet damaged the car of our traveling partners. It was discovered when they were checking out. Not sure how it will end, they’re investigating.Mary from United States – 19 March 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Would have liked to have concierge, vending machines,Todd from United States – 26 February 2025 (9/10)
The location was perfect — a short walk down to the waterfront and close to all of the tourist sites. Easy to get around on foot. Ubers were prompt for longer rides. I upgraded to a suite and it was huge! More space than I really needed, but it was a very pleasant surprise. Coffee maker in the room was great for morning before embarking on my day. The bathroom was large with a walk-in shower. Very comfortable bed. Great design in the room with nice, upscale furnishings.
What could be improved: I did not eat at the hotel, so cannot comment on any of the food offerings.Juanita from Canada – 24 February 2025 (9/10)
Location was great , ate dinner it was good, our room was spacious clean and very quiet, calm and serene.
What could be improved: 1 ply toilet paper.Bruce from United States – 1 February 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is beautiful, with beatiful artwork throughout. The staff was always extremely pleasant and helpful. The bar/restaurant has great ambiance that comlliments and enhances the stay.
What could be improved: They didn’t mention that breakfast was served in the restaurant each morning. The restaurant hours in the elevator gave the impression that they didn’t.Sharon from United Kingdom – 13 January 2025 (9/10)
Hotel was excellent, everything about was wonderful. The room was a great size, staff were very helpful, it was modern and clean. We ate at the Bookstore Bar, which again was excellent and the staff very helpful.
