1 Hotel Seattle Overview
First Impressions
Walking into 1 Hotel Seattle, you immediately understand why this five-star property has become such a standout in Seattle‘s hotel scene. The lobby feels like stepping into a modern Pacific Northwest forest — I mean, they’ve actually incorporated living moss walls and reclaimed wood throughout the space. It’s eco-luxury done right, without feeling preachy or over-the-top about it. The South Lake Union location puts you right in the thick of Seattle’s tech corridor, but honestly, it doesn’t feel corporate at all.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was genuinely impressive — floor-to-ceiling windows that frame either the city skyline or Elliott Bay (depending on which side you’re on). What really struck me was how they’ve managed to make sustainability feel luxurious rather than spartan. The linens are organic cotton, the bath products are locally sourced, and there’s this clever water filtration system instead of plastic bottles. You know what though? The beds really are as comfortable as everyone says — I’m usually a light sleeper, but I slept like a rock here.
Location and Neighborhood
South Lake Union is sort of Seattle’s answer to Silicon Valley, but it’s way more walkable and interesting than that sounds. You’re literally a few blocks from the waterfront and about a 10-minute walk to Pike Place Market if you cut through Belltown. The Space Needle is right there too — actually, you can see it from most of the hotel’s upper floors. What I really appreciated was having Amazon’s headquarters and all those trendy cafes nearby, but also being able to escape to the waterfront when the urban energy got to be too much.
Dining and Amenities
The restaurant downstairs, Water Table, focuses on Pacific Northwest ingredients — and I have to say, their salmon is probably the best I’ve had in the city. The spa treatments use local seaweed and sea salt, which sounds gimmicky but actually feels amazing after a day of walking around the city. There’s also a fitness center that doesn’t feel like an afterthought, plus they have parking available (which, trust me, is a big deal in this part of Seattle). The rooftop bar is where you want to end up for sunset — the views of Puget Sound are pretty spectacular.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, it’s the combination of environmental consciousness and genuine luxury that sets this place apart. You’re not sacrificing comfort to stay somewhere that aligns with your values — if anything, the attention to natural materials and local sourcing makes everything feel more premium. The staff seems to actually care about both the sustainability mission and making sure you have a great stay. Plus, couples especially seem to love the location — there’s something romantic about being able to walk to the waterfront for dinner and then come back to those incredible city views from your room.

Great central location for a couple of days in Seattle.
What could be improved: The hotel doesn’t offer much in terms of complimentary services that you would expect from a 5-star hotel.Heidi from United States – 6 May 2025 (8/10)
