Silver Cloud Hotel – Seattle Lake Union Overview
First Impressions
The Silver Cloud Hotel – Seattle Lake Union sits right in the heart of South Lake Union, and honestly, you can’t ask for a better spot to experience modern Seattle. This three-star property might not scream high-end appeal, but it gets the fundamentals absolutely right — I mean, when couples are rating the location 8.9 out of 10, you know something’s working. The moment you walk in, there’s this understated Pacific Northwest vibe that feels authentically Seattle without trying too hard.
Location & Neighborhood
South Lake Union is where Seattle’s tech boom really lives and breathes — you’re basically surrounded by Amazon’s campus and all the energy that brings. What I love about staying here is how walkable everything becomes. Lake Union Park is right there when you need some green space, and the Seattle Center (hello, Space Needle) is an easy stroll away. You know what’s actually convenient? The streetcar stops nearby, so getting around the city doesn’t require dealing with Seattle’s notorious parking situation — though the hotel does have private parking if you’re driving.
The Room Experience
Here’s where this place really shines — the beds are genuinely comfortable, and I’m not just saying that because it’s in their marketing materials. Recent guests consistently rave about getting quality sleep here, which honestly matters more than fancy amenities when you’re exploring a city all day. The room design keeps things clean and functional, with those floor-to-ceiling windows that many Seattle hotels do so well. You’ll get decent views of either the neighborhood or glimpses of the lake, depending on which side you’re on.
Breakfast & Dining
The continental breakfast setup works perfectly for what it is — nothing fancy, but it gets you fueled up for the day without having to hunt down a coffee shop first thing in the morning (though let’s be real, you’re in Seattle, so you’ll probably want to explore the local coffee scene anyway). There isn’t a full restaurant on-site, but South Lake Union has developed into quite the foodie destination over the past few years. You’ve got everything from food trucks to upscale dining within a few blocks.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back is that this hotel understands its role perfectly — it’s your comfortable home base while you explore everything Seattle offers. The 8.6 overall rating reflects exactly what you’d expect: solid service, reliable comfort, and a location that puts you right in the middle of the action without the premium price tag of downtown hotels. The staff seems to genuinely care about making sure you have what you need, and there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on doing the basics exceptionally well rather than overwhelming you with unnecessary extras.

The front desk staff was amazing and the cleanliness of the room.
What could be improved: Even though the property is reconstructing it was still perfect like the my last stay at the property.Christina from United States – 10 May 2025 (8/10)
The beds were really comfortable and the room was clean and well furnished.
What could be improved: They’re in the process of remodeling so it’s kind of chaotic getting into the hotel, plus the gentleman working the parking garage was a little rude when we got there.Bernadette from United States – 9 May 2025 (9/10)
We did not avail of the free breakfast, we slept in instead.

The view of the city and Lake Union was beautiful and the "good breakfast" was indeed VERY GOOD! They sent me pics of the their empty plates. 🙂

The room was clean and in good condition. It isn’t fancy, but it’s very nice. I really appreciated that I could open the window/door and get fresh air. And the bed was very comfortable; even the pillows!

What could be improved: Nothing. Major restoration of lobby but handled well by hotel.Eric from United States – 30 April 2025 (9/10)
Very clean, great location, quiet, comfortable,
What could be improved: Parking seems a bit expensiveCharles from United States – 30 April 2025 (8/10)
We had a good breakfast. We didn’t use or even know of a shuttle.
What could be improved: Difficult finding the elevators, direction hall signs would be useful. One of the elevators stopped working which made for an extended wait in the halls for guests.Joao from Canada – 25 April 2025 (9/10)
The room is good and comfortable.
The breakfast is good as well.
What could be improved: The spaces between the parking spots on P2 are small.
