Astra Hotel, Seattle, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Astra Hotel, Seattle, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott, you immediately get that modern boutique vibe that Tribute Portfolio does so well. The lobby feels fresh and contemporary without being cold — there’s this nice balance of sleek design and warmth that sets the tone for your stay. I mean, it’s clearly a four-star property, but it doesn’t feel stuffy or overly formal like some chain hotels can.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the South Lake Union location is pretty fantastic if you want to be in the thick of things without the tourist chaos of Pike Place Market. You’re literally steps from the Space Needle and Seattle Center, which is great for first-time visitors, but what I really love is how walkable this area has become. Amazon’s headquarters is right here, so there are tons of good lunch spots and coffee shops that cater to locals, not just tourists. The waterfront is an easy stroll away, and you can actually walk to Seattle‘s best neighborhoods without needing a car — which, trust me, you don’t want to deal with downtown parking anyway.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was well-designed with those floor-to-ceiling windows that really show off the city views. You know what impressed me? The attention to detail — good lighting for actually reading, plenty of outlets where you need them, and a bathroom that doesn’t feel cramped. The beds are comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. It’s not huge, but it’s thoughtfully laid out.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast setup here is actually pretty solid — they do Continental, American, and grab-and-go options, which covers most people’s needs. I appreciated having real breakfast choices beyond the usual hotel continental spread. The grab-and-go option is clutch if you’re heading out early to beat the crowds at popular spots. There isn’t a full-service restaurant on-site, but honestly, with South Lake Union’s dining scene right outside your door, you’re not lacking for options.

Why Guests Love It

What really makes this place work is that sweet spot it hits between location and value. Couples especially seem to love it here — and I can see why, since you can walk to romantic dinner spots, catch sunset views from the waterfront, and still be close to all the major attractions. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, and there’s good attention to the little things that make a stay memorable. Plus, you get Marriott reliability with that boutique hotel personality, which isn’t always easy to find. If you want to feel connected to what makes Seattle interesting without paying downtown prices, this is a smart choice.

  • Tina from United States – 8 December 2024 (9/10)

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Space Needle viiew from room was terrific!

What could be improved: Room was a tad small, but space was well planned, so it worked well.

  • Mauricio from Canada – 26 November 2024 (9/10)

Breakfast included in our reservation turned out to be a great option. We could try something different every day—delicious food, excellent service in a cozy environment, outstanding coffee, and lots of takeaway options.

Also, the hotel’s location is close to most of the attractions, and we could walk to most of them. And the room decoration was very modern and tasteful.

What could be improved: The price of the accommodation was a bit high, and the rooftop bar was less than we expected. It was a bit crowded, and the food selection was lean. We had a better experience with the restaurant on the ground floor.

My room view of the space needle was so beautiful I loved it so much .
